Projects

Copper Mountain Trolley Assist

The only operating Haul Truck Trolley Assist system in North America the Copper Mountain project consists of an approximately one-kilometer trolley-assist haul ramp and Overhead Catenary System, seven pantograph-equipped 240 Ton electric haul trucks, a new 138 Kv to 25KV 65 MVA substation with 20 MVAR Statcoms, 5 km of 25KV Double Circuit Transmission Line, and thermal system upgrades to the BCHydro Grid. This pioneering project was developed by Copper Mountain Mining Corporation with support of their partners; ABB, SMS Equipment, Komatsu, Clean BC, and B.C. Hydro, WN Brazier  and is aimed at cutting carbon emissions at the Copper Mountain Mine by at least 30%, paving a solid foundation to achieve the Company’s goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2035.

Copper Mountain Electric Mining Shovels and Rotary Blasthole Drills

The largest (800-metric ton) Electric surface mining hydraulic excavator in the world an electric Komatsu PC8000-11 was procured from Germany to service the electric Komatsu 830E Electrical haul truck fleet on site that accompany to other electric shovels procured prior to 2023.  The Electric Rotary Blast hole Drill- Epiroc Pit Viper 351’s powerful rotary head, with a 1250,000 lb  bit load, large 3,800 cfm compressor and robust structure bring balanced power for the hardest rock. This combined effort helped in reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 7500 tonnes in 2024.

Large Copper Mine Renewable Diesel

Completed four season durability testing of high horsepower haul trucks using renewable diesel that was able to reduce carbon emissions by up to 90% compared to conventional diesel fuel with little to no impact on maintenance and operations.
